Crazy, and possibly drunk Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) released a Dear Colleague letter setting out her plan for starting the impeachment process for President Trump and for calling on Vice President Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment. Both initiatives have little likelihood of success beyond votes in the House. However, Pelosi plans to make Trump the only president to be impeached twice even if no Senate trial takes place, writes Kristinn Taylor with The Gateway Pundit.
Pelosi also invited comment on the 14th Amendment, Section 3 which reads, “No Person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.”
Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) told KSHB-TV Friday that impeachment is not going to happen in the Senate:
“It’s not going to happen,” Blunt, a Republican, said about the possibility of another impeachment of Trump.
…”There is no way we’re going to impeach the president. There’s not the time to do it,” he said. “When (House Speaker) Nancy Pelosi and (Senate Minority Leader) Chuck Schumer were talking about it, it’s obviously just another political point trying to be made. It’s disappointing. It’d be much more disappointing if people can’t through see that.”
Pelosi said a unanimous consent motion will be put forth Monday on the 25th Amendment. If that fails, which is likely, a vote will be held Tuesday. Impeachment legislation will follow, said Pelosi.
In her latest “60 Minutes” interview Pelosi admits Democrats want to impeach President Trump to ensure he never runs again.
